DolFab holds the certifications that vessel owners, surveyors, and classification societies actually require. Not marketing claims — documented, audited credentials that hold up under scrutiny on every project.
Certified Facility
ABS is one of the world's leading classification societies — organizations that set structural and safety standards for ships and marine structures. An Lloyds, ABS & USCG certified facility has been audited and approved for welding procedures, welder qualifications, and quality management systems.
Commercial vessels, charter boats, and superyachts under class require work that meets classification society standards. If your surveyor needs to sign off on structural metalwork, you need an Lloyds, ABS & USCG certified shop.
Standards Compliance
ABYC publishes voluntary safety standards for boat design, construction, and repair. While not legally mandatory, ABYC compliance is the baseline expectation for marine insurance, surveyor sign-offs, and resale value on recreational vessels.
It depends on the project. Not every fabrication job requires a classification society stamp. Here's how to think about it.
Usually requires ABS or Lloyd's classification work. Your flag state and insurer will specify which classification society applies. Start here before you hire a fabricator.
If the yacht is under class (ABS, Lloyd's, MCA), classification work requires a certified facility. Even out-of-class yachts benefit from ABS-quality procedures — they're just not legally required.
ABYC compliance matters more than classification certification. Your surveyor will check ABYC standards. Work that doesn't meet them can fail survey, void insurance, or reduce resale value.
